ELLENBROOK teenager Sean Broderick left for Victoria for his first interstate basketball tournament with the under-16 men’s WA metro state basketball team last week.
The team will compete in the National Championship Tournament Games at Kilsyth until July 16.
Broderick (15) has been riding high on several personal achievements in his budding basketball career.
In December, he was selected as one of 23 athletes in WA aged between 14 and 17 to take part in Basketball Australia’s National Intensive Training Program.
That led to him being chosen as a junior Boomers assistant when the national team was in Perth for a week-long camp and the opportunity to work with head coach Brett Brown, players and staff.
In May, he was selected for the under-16s metro state basketball team after an intense seven month selection process.
Sean said he hoped to forge a professional basketball career.
“I started playing basketball four years ago when my brother started playing,” he said.
Sean said he wanted to try out for the under-18s team next year.
