The Chambers Franklyn City of Joondalup Wolves are excited to announce the re-signing of Jonathan Wade for the 2024 & 2025 NBL1 West seasons.

Wolfpack fans know and love Wade (Jonathan) for his fierce competitive spirit and bright personality. As an athlete, Wade is a player who can shoot the lights out wherever he is on the court and can blow past defenses with ease with his explosive change of speed.

First joining ‘The Pack’ in 2021, Wade arrived as a seasoned pro, coming off a championship in Kosovo. Across 21 total games, Wade averaged 51.6% from the field and was named club NBL1 MVP for his contributions. Most recently, Wade played in the 2022 NBL1 West season where he averaged 19 points and 7 rebounds a game whilst shooting 50% from the field.

In 2023, Wade experienced a season ending shoulder injury during a pre-season scrimmage. Now fully healed and recovered, Wade is ready and excited to ‘Run with the Pack’ in 2024 & 2025 with a dynamic and explosive squad.

Outside of the league, Wade is a fantastic leader in our local community, visiting schools, engaging with fans, and sharing his passion for basketball with the next generation of athletes. We look forward to seeing Wade back on court for the 2024 & 2025 NBL1 West season!

This is what Wade had to say about re-signing with the Wolves:

“I am extremely excited to be back with the Wolfpack for the next two years. The past year being out was one of the hardest things that I have gone through in my professional career. However, being out made me appreciate being healthy again, and I would say it made me a better leader and teammate as well.

I was so proud of my guys and how they went out and competed every night. I am looking forward to getting back out there and having fun with the game of basketball again with my brothers. Also, to the best fans in Australia our Wolfpack family. I have missed your gameday energy so much and cannot wait to help our team win a bunch of games and compete for another championship.”

Men’s Head Coach David Morrell had to say about re-signing Wade:

“We are thrilled to get Jonathan Wade back on the court for the Wolfpack in 2024 (and 2025), he is beloved around the club and within the team. He had the heartbreaking, season ending shoulder injury just a couple weeks before round one last year, and we missed his presence on and off the court for sure. He is such an energetic, positive, competitive person to have in your team who influences your culture strongly in a positive way.

On top of that he has size at 6-foot-4, and a rare combo of shooting and speed. He’s going on back-to-back seasons now of scoring more than 19 points per game and shooting the 3 at 40.6% in 2021 and then 47.5% in 2022. Add that to the fact that he is one of the fastest players in the league and very tough to keep out of the paint, and he is an explosive player. He defends, he rebounds, he scores efficiently. He does it all. Wolfpack fans know this well after watching him play for two seasons, and I’m sure they will be very excited to watch him for a third season.”

Jonathan Wade joins teammates Ethan Elliott, Ben Geel, Luca O’Brien Caleb Davis, Jordan Wellsteed, Christian Jurlina and CJ Turnage for the 2024 NBL1 West season.
