Robbins and Hire help Wolfpack to SBL playoffs win

The State Basketball League playoffs continued over the weekend with Perth Wildcats pair Greg Hire and Brad Robbins helping the Wanneroo Wolves to a win over the Cockburn Cougars.
The Wolves beat the Cougars 104-95 with Hire, the Wildcats' latest signing for the 2011/12 iiNet NBL Championship season, scoring 21 points and picking up 13 rebounds.
Wildcats' co-captain Robbins continued his strong form also with 16 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.
Second seed Wanneroo moved within one victory of its first Grand Final appearance since 1993 after winning at Cockburn 104-95.
The Cougars led by as many as eight at one stage and were in front late in the third quarter, but Wanneroo responded with a strong finish.
The Wolves led by just two points with three minutes remaining, but finished the game on a 10-3 run to ensure victory.
Wanneroo dominated the rebound count 51-34 thanks to the impressive work of their big men - import John Vaudreuil (28 points and 11 rebounds) and new Perth Wildcats signing Greg Hire (21 points and 13 boards).
American guard Ty Harrelson again top-scored for the Cougars with 27 points, while fellow import Stanley Ocitti had 23 points and 10 rebounds.
Game two of the series continues at the Joondalup Basketball Stadium 7:30pm on Friday 19th August, with game three (if required) Saturday 20th again at the Joondalup Basketball Stadium.
