Wolves Representatives State U20's Nationals
The Wanneroo Wolves were well represented at the 2010 Basketball Australia U/20 and Ivor Burge National Championships which were held recently in Gawler, South Australia.
Ben Murphy was Wanneroo's only player representative in the WA U/20 Men's team, however Blake Wilhelm was named as a reserve.
The side was coached by former Wanneroo SBL & WABL coach Brad Kidner. He was ably assisted by former Perth Wildcat & current Wanneroo WABL coach Trevor Pugh with the side being managed for the fourth year by Barry Hutchins.
The Men's team finished in 5th spot with a 3 win, 3 loss record, defeating a Hugh Greenwood led Tasmania in the 5/6 playoff game.
Shani Amos, Corry-Lynn Wellsteed, Tahli Raftery and Megan Lee, together with new recruit Alex Kerr were all chosen in the WA Women's team with Shani being named captain of the side.
Former Wanneroo Wolves Championship Captain & current WSBL Assistant Coach Donna Cuperus was the teams Assistant Coach.
The Women's team finished fourth overall after losing the Bronze Medal playoff game to QLD 53-58, a day after pushing Gold Medal winning team South Australia to the brink in a bruising encounter only to go down fighting by 7 points.
What a great effort, 10 Wanneroo people out of 28 representing WA at a National Championships.
